Probably the cleanest Cavalier of this generation left, with a V6, and a 5 speed. If I was buying a new cheap car in the 90s, I imagine this wouldn't be a bad choice. This is the only Cavalier that I actually like the design of, too.

Along the same lines, I found this tonight http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/ctd/564172…
Malibu Maxx SS. I don’t think they ever made theses manual though, and it’s 3.9l’s 240hp isn’t exactly impressive by today’s standards.

The owner’s hard work really shows! NP.

Roughly 1500 Murkabucks, has to be NP, one can do so much worse for the money.

Buy it

Saw one today, not quite as clean as that one but in good shape overall.

too bad the Maxx was never offered with the Ecotec or any other 4-cylinder. Transverse V6's SUCK

Having had the opportunity to drive this model new in 92 ill say look for a Lumina Z34 instead much better car

I HATE transverse V6's! Instead, consider a turbo Sunbird (yup, the Cavalier and Sunbird had completely different engines back then, all the way until 1994!)
They didn’t become the same until 1995 when the Sunbird was renamed Sunfire, then both were available with the 122 and the quad 4.

But you’d have to live with a Malibu interior...

I don't think they did either, but that one is really clean

I did not realize they were that different....I thought about it and realized I'd rather have a Beretta with the Quad 4, I don't like how it looks quite as much though

Overhangs are a bit long but I don’t hate it. I imagine the 3.4 is slightly better than the 3.1

I still have no space till I sell the Blazer :(

I plan on doing my best to avoid al GMs of the era because of the interiors. I once drove an Impala SS of the same period, I still have nightmares about all the hard black plastic, and the non functional HVAC controls.

Want. That.
I had a White one.

I prefer the boxy 1g but at $2k this would be reeeeealllhhheeeeyy hard to pass on. The manual trans is so rare it’s not funny.

I like this body the best, probably because a family friend had a black one that I rode around in a lot as a kid. Yeah I hardly ever see the manuals, on the street or on craigs

I’d love a Quad 442 or Achieva SCX

That’s the same reason I like the boxy ones. A buddy and I “stole” his Dad’s girlfriends Cav RS one weekend. It was a freaking blast. Till we hit a tree.
You know what? I’m going on FB to see if he remembers that. He blamed me 100% the bastard!

It was one of these.

I've never seen one in that trim, or even a 2 door, I like that a lot

It was quick. I’d kill to find one clean and cheap.

What engine was it? Wasn’t that Iron Duke’d or could you get the 2.8 or whatever as well? Clean and cheap is a lovely, yet hard to find combination
![]() 07/16/2016 at 01:06 |

The Z24 had the 2.8 standard. It was optional on all trims though.

That steering wheel is pretty nice too. I think it’d transplant nicely into a Camaro of that era.
